2014 Hong Kong and China Grantees
Including Three New Fellowships from
HKETONY and Lee Hysan Foundation
Hong Kong, China – Amongst a total of 81 fellowship grants awarded in Asia and the United States, 13 stellar individuals in the arts from Hong Kong and China have been announced as this year’s Asian Cultural Council (ACC) fellowship recipients. For 2014, ACC’s grant award amount worldwide exceeds HKD 12 million.
Headquartered in New York with offices in Hong Kong, Tokyo, Taipei and Manila, ACC is a non-profit organization that awards grants for customized cultural exchange experiences in the arts with the belief that the arts is central to the lives of people around the world and offer unique opportunities for the growth of communication, respect, and mutual understanding between those of different countries. The ACC is funded by the generosity of its private donors from Asia and the U.S.
“As the arts of Hong Kong and China develops tangibly in our urban landscape and cultural calendars, ACC remains committed to supporting the intangible talents of our region’s artists and arts professionals, whose work is the beating heart of it all. Through individualized experiences of immersive cultural exchange, research, and training, the ACC grant offers the opportunity for our grant recipients to gain vital new perspectives and a fresh impetus – the effect of which is often evidenced in their work upon their return. We are proud to have supported over 500 gifted individuals in Hong Kong and China, many of whom are actively and prominently shaping the direction of our cultural growth, and we look forward to witnessing the impact that will be brought about by our new cohort of grantees”, expressed Ms. Josephine Wai, Director of ACC Hong Kong.
Amongst ACC’s 2014 cohort from Hong Kong and China, three grant recipients in visual arts administration and performing art are supported through ACC’s partnership with the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in New York (HKETONY) and Lee Hysan Foundation. With regard to this partnership, Ms. Miho Walsh, Executive Director of ACC commented: “The work of ACC is made able by the enlightened philanthropy of our donors and partners who share with us our belief in the importance of cultural exchange through the arts, and in the power of the individual. We are grateful to the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in New York and Lee Hysan Foundation who are our like-minded partners and who have also greatly contributed towards the cultural development of Hong Kong and China through their efforts in this field.”

About the Asian Cultural Council
Since the establishment of the Hong Kong office in 1986, the Asian Cultural Council has awarded more than 500 fellowships to leading arts professionals from Hong Kong and China for programs of advanced study and research in the United States and other countries in Asia. This group of individuals and organisations are part of a network of over 4,000 outstanding cultural professionals across Asia and the United States who have been supported by the ACC since it was first established in 1963 in New York by John D. Rockefeller 3rd.
Application for 2015 Fellowships
